The Pearl Fusion is a combination of the Pearl and the Pearl Fractional procedures at the same setting. This means we can specifically attack brown spots, sun damage, fine line, texture and deeper lines. The Pearl Fusion is a single treatment procedure that provides excellent clinical results with a reduced risk profile. The treatment is adjusted to the depth that requires for any particular patient. Recovery time is a week or less.
The Pearl Fusion can be combined with other facial procedures such a short scar facelift, brow lift and eyelids. At Blackhawk Plastic Surgery, we have extensive experience in this procedure.
Laser skin resurfacing became popular in the 1990s. Initially, the CO2 laser became a popular skin treatment. This procedure worked well on wrinkles. The downside was frequent negative changes in pigmentation and infrequent infections. In addition, the recovery was long and difficult and sometimes scarred. The skin often had a waxy appearance after healing.
To address the limitations of the CO2 laser, the Erbium Yag was invented. This skin healed much faster and there were less complications. The problem with the Erbium is that the results weren’t nearly as good as the CO2.
Research and more modern technology led us to the YSGG type laser. The YSGG has an absorption that is in between the CO2 and the Erbium. That means it achieves great results with minimal downtime and risk. This is the best of both worlds. Great results, no change in pigmentation, quick healing and less risk.
There are two YSGG lasers (the Pearl and the Pearl Fractional). The Pearl laser treats the entire surface of the face for superficial issues (brown spots, sun damage, texture and fine lines). The Pearl Fractional only treats a fraction of the skin but does so more deeply (drills tiny holes in skin like aerating a lawn). It is designed to improve deeper dermal wrinkles
Photorejuvenation
(lasergenesis – IPL technology)
Photorejuvenation involves either lasergenesis, intense pulsed light, or both for skin rejunination. A full course of treatment for photorejuvenation usually includes five sessions.
Lasergenesis is a non-invasive laser technique used to treat wrinkles, large pores, skin texture, and skin redness. Areas most commonly treated include the face and neck. In addition, scars can be treated (redness).
No anesthesia is required for lasergenesis and there is no down-time.
Photogenesis is an intense pulsed light procedure used to treat skin redness (including rosacea), brown spots and sun damage. Any area of the body with brown spots, uneven skin, redness, etc. can be treated. The face, chest, arms and shoulders are the most popular areas as they receive the greatest amount of sun exposure.
No anesthesia is required for photogenesis – IPL treatments but some patients will prefer a topical anesthesic. Following the treatment, the skin may appear red and feel slightly sunburned. The brown spots typical flake off over the course of a few days.
